Performer Submission opportunities for Xpand Fest close March 15th! Sign up today!

Welcome!!

As the Creative Director of Xpand Fest, I am beyond excited to bring you a wonderful day of creatively curated local entertainment on June 10th at the inaugural Xpand Fest.

Calling Asheville home for over a decade, I have had the great pleasure of meeting and working with a number of local, creative professionals. Having collaborated on several festivals and events in town, I am continually inspired by people who are dedicated and passionate about what they do to help build our community.

None are more dedicated and driven to present the best that this town has to offer than the carefully selected members of our Performance Committee, which I have the pleasure of introducing below.

As a committee, after the submission form closes (12:01am on March 16th), we will review the many talented performer entry’s we have received and will compose a day of unique and variety filled performances ranging from dance, comedy, music and more. It is my honor and pleasure to work with the following visionaries who will be bringing their expertise and expansive network to our stages.

Please reach out to me or one of the members if you have any questions! We cannot wait to start announcing all the great talent that will fill the streets of the South Slope June 10th.

Heather has taught both professionals and students at NC Dance Theatre (now Charlotte Ballet), Nashville Ballet, Chautauqua Ballet, UNC School of the Arts, Ballet Nouveau Colorado and Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance. She has an equal love for working with professionals and students, and outside of her passion for her family, lives to create ballets and coach dancers to become better artists than they ever dreamed possible. She has taught at many studios in the Asheville area since moving here to start Terpsicorps in 2003, and treasures the relationships she forms with her students.

Juan Holladay: Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Juan Holladay has made Asheville his home for the past fifteen years.  In addition to fronting his own band, the Secret B-Sides, Juan also makes music with many local artists, including the Billy Jonas Band, Stephanie Morgan, the Jolly Balloonsmiths, Conspirators, Inc., and more.

Kathleen Hahn: Kathleen has spent most of her entire life dancing. Her foundation in dance comes from extensive study and performing in ballet and modern dance. Her current status with dance is whatever is the most fun is the type of dance you should be doing. She opened her dance studio Danceclub Asheville in May, 2016 where she is offering pole dancing and fitness, jazz/funk, flashmob, and burlesque classes. She is also the owner of I Do Dances, her wedding business, choreographing First Dances and bridal party dances for couples. Kathleen is dedicated to bringing more dance to more people’s lives.

Scotty Robertson: Scotty was born under a dark moon into a house that honored Ray Charles, Benny Goodman and Hank Williams. Many years were spent with his nose in a book and his ears covered by headphones. He began broadcasting as a teenager and hopes to conclude as an octogenarian. Over time Scotty has earned degrees and lost socks; he has blown opportunities, both knees and his mind. He is happily married with two amazing children and believes strongly in the power of gumbo, travel, and comfortable shoes. When not in the WNCW studio you can find him in the garden, floating the river, or throttling his motorcycle.

Cortina Caldwell: Cortina Jenelle (Caldwell) is a queer, Two-Spirit woman of Southern, West African and Iberian descent.  Originally born/raised in rural Morganton, NC, she is rooted back in the Appalachians where she calls Earthaven Ecovillage – an intentional community – home. Cortina is an authentic leader, systemic communication architect, egalitarian and highly sought facilitator for personal, organizational and community transformation. Cortina currently serves as the Founder of SOLEIL (School of Leadership, Equality and Innovative Learning) and the Community Relations Director for LEAF Community Arts.  Prior to these roles, Cortina served as the Founder & Managing Director of Visit & Venture (2011); and Co-Founder of the Authentic Communities Summit (2015).
