Xpand Fest is only 6 weeks away and are so excited we finally get to start letting you guys in on all the amazing things we have going on in the South Slope on June 10th from 11am – 9pm.

Let’s start with our main festival partners, which include The South Slope Neighborhood Association who works directly with the businesses impacted by the footprint of the festival and Art Studio World who focuses on empowerment through creative holistic art integration. These partners support the needs and mission of Xpand Fest and have been immeasurable additions to the community rallying behind this first year event.

With 30+ performing groups, an engaging Nonprofit Arts Arcade (info to come!), a special festival brew in the works with Bhramari Brewhouse, 35+ local art and food vendors, and a growing list of sponsors, Xpand Fest is focused on becoming a staple event for the creative economy of Asheville. But, let’s be honest, no matter what we tell you, we know your  curious what to expect when you walk on to the streets Banks and Buxton Avenue 6 Saturdays from now.

At the event, you should expect to see unique representation and presentations (including glassblowing!) from Octopus Garden, Dig Local, Signarama and the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) who are some of the main sponsors joining 30 other businesses (and counting!) to contribute money, time and in-kind donations towards Xpand Fest’s success. With the festival ideals resting on community collaboration of the nonprofit, creative community and business industry, this aspect of the festival stands as an important pillar to the overall cooperative nature of the event. Check out the rest of our sponsor list here or email us to include your business!

Xpand Fest attendees can also expect to be entertained, inspired and encouraged to imagine a better world through the variety of performance art and interactive activities that will be displayed in the streets. The Broadcast and The Fritz will be closing the event out as the local headline performances, but participants can experience aerial arts, a dance class, acting performances and an entire section of educational and creative games/activities. The nonprofit arts arcade, as it will be called will also include information on local businesses efforts towards healthy and sustainable development. Stay tune for more information on participating nonprofits, but go ahead and check out all the awesome performers you will see at Xpand Fest!

We will be sharing more sponsor and performer highlights as the weeks draw closer, but for now, make sure you stay connected to our Instagram and Facebook pages and feel free to invite your friends to the FB event! Without creatives, local businesses and individuals inspired to change, Xpand Fest wouldn’t be what it is, and for that- we thank you!
